All I Want For Christmas is my Husband

There are a lot of military families out there who are separated this Christmas. Thank you for stopping by to help remember them today. It's easy to forget about our fighting men and women when we are just going about our daily lives. In this picture, my husband and I are at the wedding of our oldest son, which took place amongst the redwoods. I'm holding our grandson.

But these precious days wouldn't be possible without those that have sacrificed, and in some cases, given their all so we could have a "normal" life, free from the worries and dangers we might otherwise face.

I think about the families separated this Christmas, and my heart goes out to them especially. They are having a Christmas dinner in a temporary home, sleep on a cot, love getting letters and packages from home. They play video games and read, and they think of their families. I include them in my family. And if I could rule the world, like I do in my military romance novels, I'd bring them all home safely tomorrow. Before Christmas.

But I'm a realist. The world doesn't always have a happily ever after, like in our books. And, sadly, some must pay the ultimate sacrifice or come home wounded. I can only imagine the pain their absense causes.

And so I say thank you, for all you do for us. For giving me a Christmas and a whole life I will not squander.

Please leave your email in your comment for a free short to my new Navy SEAL Brotherhood series, SEAL Endeavor. This is the prequel to my new release, Fallen SEAL Legacy. You must also leave your email addy to be entered in the grand prize drawing.

  1. Great post Sharon! Since both my Father and my brother were in the Navy, also a few relatives in the US on active duty, I have a healthy respect for the military. It breaks my heart when I see pics like the one you posted, to see families apart at Christmas, being away from family at Christmas is hard, and I wish there would be no need for it.
    Merry Christmas to all!

    1. Thank you and and your family for their service. The entire family does the service, even though one is deployed. Yes, it is all too easy to forget the sacrifice our military family experience during the holidays. Thanks for helping me celebrate them.

  4. Julie,
You are so right. And I hate that families have to be separated at Christmas. Just doesn't seem right, but we know it has to be done.

Thanks for stopping by today. Means a lot to me.

  8. Hi Sharon,
I wish all our troops were home, not just for Christmas but for all time. My father died in WWII on Christmas Eve 1944. For many years Christmas was hard to endure, despite gifts, trees, gatherings. My granddaughter's 21st birthday would have been tomorrow. With celebration comes a bit of sorrow
as incongruous as that is...just as I suspect it will for you, also.

    1. Arletta, thank you for sharing something so personal. Yes, Christmas can be a sad time without the ones we love. I wish we could bring everyone home as well. Keep them safe.

Just as tragedy strikes men and women of all colors, faiths and cultural backgrounds, it occurs at any time of the year.

Our Civil War killed more men than all the rest of the wars combined. Although that doesn't lessen the fact that losing someone you love is still a tragedy, I've learned that this imperfect life is what I'm given, and meant to be enjoyed to the fullest, in their honor and memory.

  9. One of my favorite Christmas Romance Books is The Untamable Rogue by Annette Blair! The story is about Ashford Blackburne Fifth Earl and he has to get married and get his willing bride pregnant before Christmas or his grandfather won’t let him inherit his money. Ash truly needs to inherit the money because his late father squandered it all away and he is taking care of his mother. After getting stood up at the alter, again, Ash and his friends go to the local pub where the owner plays a drunken Ash in a card game…his consolation prize is the pubs daughter Larkin, who he wants to get ride of. Ash has to learn to forgive…Larkin has to learn how to trust…can two completely different people find love together. This is a cute, extremely funny, romantic story with a surprise Christmas ending!

  37. My name is cheney from uk. I never believed in love spells or magic until i met this spell caster once when i went to Africa in February this year on a business summit. I meant a man who’s name is DR.EGOGO he is really powerful and could help cast spells to bring back one’s gone, lost, misbehaving lover and magic money spell or spell for a good job or luck spell .I’m now happy & a living testimony cos the man i had wanted to marry left me 3 weeks before our wedding and my life was upside down cos our relationship has been on for 3years. I really loved him, but his mother was against us and he had no good paying job. So when i met this spell caster, i told him what happened and explained the situation of things to him. At first i was undecided, skeptical and doubtful, but i just gave it a try. And in 7 days when i returned to Canada, my boyfriend (now husband) called me by himself and came to me apologizing that everything had been settled with his mom and family and he got a new job interview so we should get married. I didn’t believe it cos the spell caster only asked for my name and my boyfriends name and all i wanted him to do. Well we are happily married now and we are expecting our little kid, and my husband also got the new job and our lives became much better. His email is egogotemple@yahoo.com
